Speaking and listening are at the core of learning in ELA classes and Wit & Wisdom curriculum. Pictured here are some of the students in Ms. Cheers' third grade class learning how to engage in a Socratic Seminar during their ELA time.
It was a foil boat challenge kind of day in Mrs. Smith's class! Students got into groups and constructed boats out of one piece of foil. The groups were trying to build a boat strong enough to hold the items such as penny, pencil, cotton ball, wooden stick, crayon, and rubber band. Then they were able to each get another piece of foil and build their own individual boat and see whose boat could hold the most pennies!

As part of Wit & Wisdom Module 1, fourth-grade students checked their heart beats with marshmallows and tooth picks. Students also learned about the difference between their figurative and literal hearts.
MST Artists were hard at work those first few weeks of school creating their very own graffiti wall. Ms. Moore, MST art teacher, helped students design their own graffiti versions of their names and then all students put their artwork together to make the amazing hallway display you see below!
HOOPFEST 2023!!
Students and staff had a ballin' time competing against each other in yesterday's game. The rest of us had a great time cheering them on. It was a great day to be an MST Patriot!

Students learned about convection currents in fourth-grade science class. They saw how warm molecules rise while cold molecules sink during an experiment about how heat moves. Warm water was colored red and cold water was colored blue. Through their observations, students found that warm water molecules moved at a faster rate than the cold molecules.
Science can be "s'more" much fun in Ms. Ezekiel's class!
Music class has been full of movement, singing, and instruments these past few weeks and some students have already gotten to compose their own musical ideas. 4th-grade students and students in Ms. Bain's homeroom wrote their own rhythmic patterns and then turned their individual patterns into a whole-class song!
Kindergarten is always a great time, especially when you get to spend your days in Mrs Waldrip's class!

Adventures in Literacy
Mrs. Jones' class went on a noun safari around the classroom. Scholars searched around the room for different nouns and recorded them in their wit and wisdom response journals!
