Today, Mrs. Jamie White's FACS classes had the Chef Benny experience! As the students enter a new unit of study on food and nutrition from different parts of the world, they were able to enjoy this demonstration of making fresh pasta and parmesan.

Marion High School, along with Health Occupation Students of America advisors, Patti Castle and Whitney Taylor, sent 22 Health Science students to attend the Arkansas HOSA State Leadership Conference for future health professionals from Feb 22-24. Students competed in 11 different events including testing only, testing and skills, and project based. Of the 6 students who participated in events with a round 1 test, 4 moved on to the round 2 skills test. While our project events did not place at the competition, we are enormously proud of the work our students did. Many of these students spent hours of their free time preparing.

Please congratulate them on their dedication. Say a special congratulations to Bella Barber who placed first in Pharmacology (test event). She has the opportunity to compete at International Leadership Conference in June.

We look forward to next year!

Today, Ms. Selden's Food Safety and Nutrition Class had a guest, Chef Benny, who came and taught students how to make fresh Italian pasta. Students learned the basics from an Italian person and got to sample a pasta in a Parmigiano Reggiano coating.

The Marion School District Choir CPA Preview Concert will take place on Tuesday, February 24th, at 6:30 p.m. at the Marion Performing Arts Center.

This concert will feature performances by the Marion Junior High 8th Grade Mixed Choir, 9th Grade Mixed Choir, and the Marion High School Concert Choir. Students will present their Choral Performance Assessment selections in preparation for Regional CPA in Jonesboro this March. This performance serves as an important opportunity for our students to showcase their preparation, musicianship, and growth before adjudication.

The concert is free and open to the public, and we would love for our school community to come out and support our students as they represent Marion with excellence.

Thank you, Monty and Valerie Hill! 🎶❤️💙

The Marion School District would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Monty and Valerie Hill for their leadership, dedication, and impact on the Patriot Pride Band. Since arriving in 2020, they set out to elevate Marion’s band program to one of the best in the state -- and they delivered.

During their time at Marion, the Hills helped grow the program from fewer than 150 students to nearly 400, earning 15 ASBOA Sweepstakes Awards, 10 grand championships, and countless All-Region and All-State honors, among many other honors and recognitions.

As Monty takes on a new role as Director of Bands at Henderson State University and Valerie begins a well-earned retirement, we wish them both nothing but the best. Their legacy of excellence and pride will continue at Marion for years to come.

The gods are arguing, a lightning bolt is missing, and one very confused teenager just found out his dad is Poseidon. ⚡🌊 In The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical, Percy and his friends set off on a cross-country quest to clear his name, dodge monsters, and (hopefully) stop an all-out war on Mount Olympus.

Join us March 12th–14th at 6 PM and March 15th at 2 PM for this action-packed, laugh-out-loud adventure! Perfect for families, Percy Jackson fans, and anyone who enjoys big energy, bold characters, and a little mythological chaos—due to some intense monuments this show is recommended for ages 8 and up.

In celebration of Valentine's Day, "Loving the Library" was the theme for today's RTI day in the MHS library. Students got a chance to immerse themselves in a bit of teen makerspace with Just Dance, Tic-tac-toe, Jenga, and other brain stimulating activities. Ms. Sturghill even got in on the fun!

MHS Parent Update 2-3
The MHS Spanish Club hosted a field trip to the Memphis Museums of Science and History. Students were able to Immerse in an experience larger than imagination in the Giant Screen Theater and the Planetarium.

First, students were enchanted with the presentation of “Oceans: Our Blue Planet” in the Giant Screen Theater. They embarked on a global journey to discover the largest and least explored habitat on earth that with new ocean science and technology has allowed scientists to go further into the unknown than we ever thought possible.

Then, “Stargazing” at the Planetarium. Students traveled through constellations, learned cool star names, and immersed themselves in planetarium space music in this full dome audiovisual experience.

Students said, “It was an awesome experience.”
