bullying prevention

To support National Bullying Prevention Month throughout October, VPA offered information and education to staff and students about how everyone can recognize and prevent bullying. We participated in several different activities to raise awareness about bullying and the role we all play in making a difference by creating safe and supportive schools.

  • Classroom counseling lessons for K-6 students during the month of October centered around Kindness, Acceptance & Inclusion, What is Bullying and How to be an Upstander.

  • Students in grades 2-6 recited the Bully Free Pledge and then signed a “Pledge to be Kind and Stick Together” banner provided by national sponsors - Duck Tape and Project Love.

  • 6th grade students placed Bully Free Zone signs in each classroom.

  • To signify the importance of National Bullying Prevention Awareness Month, students and adults alike were encouraged to #BlueUp by wearing a blue shirt to make that the day -- October 5th, 2020 -- that bullying prevention is heard around the world.
